We believe in the importance of education as a basic human right that protects refugee children from falling behind and empowers them to support their own community. We aim at providing non-Egyptian students from troubled backgrounds with low cost, high quality secondary education that is recognised internationally. By our broad curriculum from a global perspective, we enable our students to be independent, contributing citizens.
The Center for Arab-West Understanding (CAWU) registered as an NGO in 2007 in Egypt has fostered dialogue among students from many different countries, cultural backgrounds and beliefs. In 2019, we founded a learning center for refugees. Our team is a group of well-rounded individuals passionate about helping their students.

What do students say?
"My experience at the Learning Center has been great so far. The place just really motivates me to put effort in my studying. And unlike the other refugees schools I’ve been to, the Learning Center student’s opinions are just as valued or important as the adults. I feel like I have a voice and what I say matters which somehow gives me a sense of responsibility in my actions".
